Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 oz apple cider
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 strip orange twist
Instructions
- Step 1: Make the cinnamon syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tsp ground cinnamon. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, cover, and steep for 30 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar and cool completely.
- Step 2: In a rocks glass, add 2 oz bourbon, 1/2 oz cinnamon simple syrup, 1/2 oz apple cider, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir gently for 30 seconds to meld the flavors.
- Step 3: Express the oils from a 1-inch strip of orange peel by twisting it over the drink until the oils release, then drop the peel into the glass as a garnish.
