Ingredients
- 4 (6 oz each) salmon fillets
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Step 1: Finely mince 1 tbsp fresh ginger and 1 clove garlic. Whisk together 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp mirin, 1 tsp sugar, and ginger-garlic mixture in a bowl until sugar dissolves — the ginger will be nearly invisible in the sauce.
- Step 2: Place 4 salmon fillets skin-side down in a single layer in a non-stick skillet. Pour half the teriyaki sauce over salmon, ensuring it covers the top. Cook over medium heat for 4 minutes without moving.
- Step 3: Flip salmon, pour remaining sauce over, and cook for 3-4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 125°F — sauce will thicken and become glossy, revealing the ginger's warmth through the caramelized glaze.
- Step 4: Transfer salmon to plates, drizzle with any remaining sauce, and sprinkle with 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds.
