Ingredients
- 2 medium, peeled and diced into 1/4-inch cubes apples
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 cup for frying vegetable oil
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 3 tbsp granulated sugar until evenly mixed.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, beat 1 large egg with 1/2 cup milk until smooth, then gently fold into the flour mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
- Step 3: Heat 1 cup vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat (350°F) until a pinch of flour sizzles immediately. Drop 2 tbsp batter portions into oil, add 1/4 cup diced apples to each, and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
- Step 4: Transfer fritters to a wire rack, dust with 1 tsp cinnamon sugar, and drizzle with 3 tbsp warm maple syrup while still hot.
