- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1.5 cups heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with butter. Layer 4 cups cubed stale bread in the dish, then press pumpkin puree evenly over the bread.
- Step 2: Whisk together 1.5 cups heavy cream, 3 large eggs, 1/4 cup pure maple syrup, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/4 tsp salt until smooth and no streaks remain.
- Step 3: Pour cream mixture evenly over the pumpkin and bread, pressing down gently to submerge all bread cubes. Let sit for 15 minutes to absorb the custard.
- Step 4: Bake for 45-50 minutes until the center is just set and edges are golden brown, with a slight jiggle when gently shaken. Let cool for 20 minutes before serving.
