One-Pot Beef and Pasta with Red Wine Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add finely chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Step 2: Add ground beef to pot, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Step 3: Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Add crushed tomatoes, red wine, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Step 4: Add penne pasta to pot, stirring to submerge. Pour in 2 cups water, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
- Step 5: Remove from heat, stir in remaining 1 tbsp olive oil, and let sit for 5 minutes. Serve hot with grated Parmesan.
