Raisin and Caraway Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (100g) raisins
- 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) buttermilk
- 1 tbsp, melted unsalted butter
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp baking soda, and 1 tsp salt. Stir in 1/2 cup raisins and 1/2 tsp caraway seeds.
- Step 3: Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and pour in 1 1/2 cups buttermilk. Stir with a fork until a shaggy dough forms, then turn out onto a floured surface and gently knead for 30 seconds.
- Step 4: Shape dough into a round loaf, place on prepared baking sheet, and brush top with 1 tbsp melted butter. Cut a deep X on top with a sharp knife.
- Step 5: Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped. Cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes before slicing.
