Trailside Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 2 cups water
- 2 medium, diced apples
- 1.5 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine oats and water over medium-high heat, bringing to a gentle simmer.
- Step 2: Stir in diced apples, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup of water, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Step 3: Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in honey until fully melted and incorporated.
- Step 5: Let sit for 2 minutes to thicken, then divide into bowls and top with chopped walnuts just before serving.
