Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs pork shoulder
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- 2 medium, cored and sliced apple
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary
- 3 cloves, minced garlic
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Step 1: Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels, then season both sides with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
- Step 2: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat until shimmering. Sear the pork shoulder for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown, then transfer to a slow cooker.
- Step 3: Stir 3 tbsp maple syrup, 2 tbsp bourbon, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tbsp chopped rosemary into the Dutch oven, scraping up browned bits. Pour this mixture over the pork, then add 1 cup chicken broth and 2 sliced apples.
- Step 4: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until pork is fork-tender and pulls away from the bone.
- Step 5: Remove pork, slice thinly, and serve with the sauce and apples spooned over the top.
