  2. Step 2: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat until shimmering. Sear the pork shoulder for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown, then transfer to a slow cooker.
  3. Step 3: Stir 3 tbsp maple syrup, 2 tbsp bourbon, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tbsp chopped rosemary into the Dutch oven, scraping up browned bits. Pour this mixture over the pork, then add 1 cup chicken broth and 2 sliced apples.
  4. Step 4: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until pork is fork-tender and pulls away from the bone.
