Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 medium sliced yellow onions and 2 minced garlic cloves, cooking for 10-12 minutes until onions are deeply caramelized and soft.
- Step 2: Push onions to the side and add 6 bratwurst sausages to the skillet. Brown sausages on all sides for 5-6 minutes over medium-high heat.
- Step 3: Pour in 12 oz local craft beer and season with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes until sausages are cooked through and beer is reduced slightly.
- Step 4: Remove cover, increase heat to medium-high and cook for 3-4 minutes to reduce the sauce further, coating the sausages.
- Step 5: Serve bratwurst topped with caramelized onions and 2 tbsp dijon mustard on the side. Garnish with 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley.
