Herb-Infused Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce

Ingredients
- 8 oz Spaghetti
- 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes
- 1/2 cup Fresh basil
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add 8 oz spaghetti and cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente, then drain and reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
- Step 2: While pasta cooks, heat 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Step 3: Add 1 can (28 oz) diced San Marzano tomatoes, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Step 4: Stir in 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil and the drained spaghetti. Add 1/4 cup reserved pasta water and toss until the sauce coats the pasta. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
