Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, combine 1 lb ground beef, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tsp onion powder. Mix gently to combine. Form into 3 patties about 4 inches in diameter.
- Step 2: Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
- Step 3: Meanwhile, butter one side of each 6 slices of white sandwich bread with 3 tbsp softened butter. Place 3 slices buttered side down in a skillet over medium heat.
- Step 4: Top each bread slice in the skillet with 2 slices cheddar cheese and then place a cooked burger patty on top. Add a lettuce leaf and 2 tomato slices to each patty.
- Step 5: Top each sandwich with another slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom bread is golden and cheese starts to melt, then carefully flip to toast the other side for 3 minutes. Serve hot.
