Garlic Butter Pan-Seared Steak with Roasted Asparagus

Ingredients
- 12 oz flank steak
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- 1 lb asparagus
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Pat 12 oz flank steak dry with paper towels and season evenly with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, then add the steak and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and let rest.
- Step 2: Add 2 tbsp unsalted butter to the skillet and melt over medium heat. Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves and 1 tbsp fresh thyme, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant. Add 1 lb asparagus, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper, tossing to coat. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until asparagus is tender-crisp with slight char.
- Step 3: Return the steak to the skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over it. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
