- 2 tbsp Sage
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Onion
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 cup Chicken broth
- 1 tsp Thyme
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 325°F. Pat 2 lbs pork shoulder dry and season evenly with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large oven-safe Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the pork shoulder for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown, then remove and set aside.
- Step 2: Add 1 finely chopped onion to the pot and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Step 3: Return the seared pork shoulder to the pot. Add 2 diced apples (peeled, 1/2-inch cubes), 2 tbsp chopped sage, 1 tsp dried thyme, and 1 cup chicken broth. Bring to a simmer, then cover with a lid and transfer to the oven.
- Step 4: Bake for 2 hours 30 minutes, or until the pork is fork-tender. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
