Shrimp and Vegetable Dumplings

Light, delicate dumplings filled with fresh shrimp and vegetables, steamed to a perfect tender texture and served with a simple soy dipping sauce.

  1. Step 1: Pulse 1/2 lb shrimp in a food processor until finely chopped, then transfer to a bowl.
  2. Step 2: Add 1/2 cup finely diced carrots, 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage, 2 chopped green onions, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, and 1 tsp cornstarch to the shrimp; mix until combined.
  3. Step 3: Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
  4. Step 4: Moisten the edges of each wrapper with 2 tbsp water, then fold and crimp the edges to seal tightly.
  5. Step 5: Place dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper, spacing them 1 inch apart.
  6. Step 6: Steam over boiling water for 8-10 minutes until wrappers are translucent and filling is cooked through, checking at 8 minutes for doneness.
